Youngsters of all ages took a stroll through the not-so deep, dark woods at Tregenna Castle Resort on Saturday in search of their own Gruffalo.
The sun shone down as about 160 children descended on the St Ives resort to take part in its first ever Gruffalo hunt.
Groups and families made their way around the resort on the trail of the popular children’s character, collecting clues and finding the terrible parts of the fearsome creature.
Afterwards they enjoyed a selection of food including some orange eye melon and carrot stick tusks, although there was no Gruffalo crumble.
Keira Beattie, Conference and Banqueting Manager at Tregenna, who organised the event said she was overwhelmed by its success.
“It just exploded on the day with so many people coming along to join in the hunt,” said Keira, whose own children also enjoyed the fun.
“Everyone had a great time and all the children loved hunting down their own Gruffalo and receiving a certificate at the end.”
The event attracted so many people the whole venue was abuzz with Gruffalo hunters making the most of the resort’s facilities.
Keira added: “We were so pleased, mainly because everyone who came along made the most of what we have to offer up here. Families came back the next day to use the pool and many picnicked on the lawn, many of whom didn’t realise you didn’t have to be staying here to enjoy our facilities.
“I have never seen the park and the lawn so busy and that is what Tregenna is about, being a local and family orientated place to be.
“We’re now busy planning the next event, so watch this space.”
