| Tregenna Castle
Estate’s fortunate location affords quick and easy access
to some of the country’s most varied and famous tourist attractions.
St.
Michaels Mount, imprisoned for two thirds of its life by
water, with a history of sea battles, giants and folklore.
For those culture vultures, a visit to Cornwall
is only complete with a pilgrimage to the utterly unique Minack
Theatre. An open air theatrical venue
perched and built into the cliffs of the beautiful Porthcurno, surely
the most stunning backdrop in any theatre across the world. The
Minack is open throughout the extended summer season hosting plays,
opera, children’s plays and dance.
Cornwall
has long been a cultural centre for the creative industries; associated
with famous names such as Virginia Woolf, Bernard Leach, Barbara
Hepworth,
Walter Richard Sickert, James McNeill Whistler, Ben Nicholson and
Peter Lanyon. Such has been the draw of St. Ives over the decades
that the Tate Gallery decided
to create a new and dramatic gallery and exhibition space in the
heart of the village, an insitution that lends itself to the continued
vibrancy of the arts in Cornwall.
Myth and magic become reality with the fabled
home of King Arthur in Tintagel, tales of pirates and smugglers
and folklore of big cats sightings and mysterious happenings at
Land’s End.
Undoubtedly
the best thing to come out of the Millennium Fund is the Eden Project.
The rightful Eighth Wonder of the World is visited by people from
across the world throughout the year. The Eden Project’s commitment
to continued development and education sees 2005 beginning on the
next phase of its journey with the opening of its educational centre.
If you’ve seen it once, see it again, it just grows and grows!
And
don’t forget, Cornwall’s extraordinarily mild climate
throughout the year has blessed the area with equally extraordinary
sub-tropical gardens. Visit the famous Trebah and Trelissick Gardens
and discover for yourself the long lost Gardens of Heligan. A vast
and secret garden hidden from sight for over 70 years until re-discovered
and restored back to their original splendour in 1991.
